ORLANDO, Florida / PGA Merchandise Show Booth #2373 (January 17, 2008) – OGIO has golfers covered.  This has been the message for the company’s 2008 golf gear collection – filled with a selection of bags to meet any personality – and this year takes literal meaning with its introduction of a new precedent-setting golf umbrella and an “OGIO-ized” golf hat collection.

 It’s All Sixes – Wide, that Is

Never ones to do anything halfway, OGIO has created a new golf umbrella that stretches a full six feet wide in each direction to ensure that players and their gear are completely covered.  At 72” square, the umbrella not only protects golfers who carry their bags; it also is designed to ensure their gear stays dry even when being pushed on cart. The company’s signature problem-solving continues, with an extended stem that reaches a full eight inches beyond standard golf umbrellas.  When placed inside cart umbrella holders, this added length allows the umbrella to ride much higher above the player, providing ample room for movement beneath. OGIO’s new Golf Umbrella (MSRP: $39.00) is available in Black Icon.    

Golf on the Brain

What started as a promotional item generated such enthusiastic response that OGIO had to release it as a collection.  Influenced in part by the company’s role in the action sports industry, the company’s pre-worn hats have look that OGIO Global Golf Director Tom Gocke describes as an “Abercrombie-meets-PGA” style.  “We started selling these hats last year in some of the largest national retailers and the response has been fantastic,” he adds. “Our look is a little different; it’s a little off-base and may not appeal to the double-pleated guy.  But for the guy who wears flat fronts and the newest styles, it’s a perfect fit.”

 The 100 percent cotton caps include: 

• Ace: A black and white argyle print cap with a contrast-stitched white-on-black brim also features a magnetic OGIO icon ball marker on the side.  One size fits most.
• Fringe:  With its distressed brim and faded denim accents, the Fringe looks like a favorite cap from college days.  Also features a magnetic icon ball marker. Available in Yellow/Black; Green/White; Blue/White. One size fits most.
• Sandard: The Standard is anything but.  This gold-plaid-on-white cap has the look and attitude of a pro skater hat, with a silhouette that stays true to golf. Available in S/M and L/XL. 
• Nickel: The most traditional cap in OGIO’s lineup still gets a dose of OGIO charisma with its embroidered OGIO icon, a magnetic ball marker, and color choices including Black/Argyle; Light Blue/White; White/Black; and Khaki/Bone with bright Orange accents.
