All in all, a good p
All in all, a good pack for the money. Lots of features and pocket types. I have one of these for 3 years now, use it everyday! However, the main zippers went at the end of year one. Front pockets tore at year two. Still a great pack. Just ordered another one for replacement.
Even though that laptop sleeve is only made for a 15", the compartment holds my 17" just fine. I carry a 17" laptop, 13" chromebook, 7" tablet, two different external drives, notebook, pens, pencils, batt. back-up, cords/wires for everything, binder, papers, mouse and pad, glasses/sunglasses, manuals, leatherman tool, and a ton of other stuff! I LOVE THIS BAG! Now, if I could only find a Ogio briefcase that could carry as much.
Disappointed in the laptop compartment.
Overall this bag is much better than my current backpack. However, I'm a little let down regarding the laptop compartment. Which is the main reason I bought this pack. I carry it daily with mainly just my laptop only in it and want to ensure its protected. In the description as well as the product tag attached when it arrived states that the laptop compartment is fleece-lined. Mine, most certainly, is not. I double checked the diagram. There is a smaller pocket inside the laptop (LT) compartment with a strap that looks to be where I would place my LT. I have a 15" rMBP, and it's not even closet to fitting. It does fit just fine in the actual compartment, but is then flush with the bottom of the pack. So setting the pack down loaded is going to take some care. The pocket would keep it off the bottom of the pack, and help protect it.
I like all of the pockets and additional storage for traveling. It will surely store everything I need to take with me. However, I do think that I'm going to return this one for the renegade RSS, as I want to make sure my laptop is protected, as this was the main reason I wanted to upgrade to this pack.
The specs listed on this site and on Amazon sites are wrong! 1st. The bag has an 1800cu.in. capacity not 2050cu.in. as listed. 2nd the dimensions for the laptop sleeve incorrect my 15" latitude does not fit...my 10.1 Galaxy TAB just fits, so it is not the end of the world. I bought this bag instead of the Reegade RSS 17 because the specs for the Gambit were better (larger).
Overall, the bag is solid and supports all of the weight I am loading it with...its a lot. I'll comment agian after I have used the bag for a while.
I was really expecting a bit more from this backpack. It works as designed for I was left feeling that there could have some better design decisions.
I was trying to find something that would replace my Swiss Synergy that I purchased at Microcenter but I dont know if this bag will do the trick mostly because: The side pockets are not large enough to fit a power supply and the water bottle compartment is rather small to fit something other than a standard water bottle.
The construction is average, I think 420D Polyester Oxford is middle of the road and at $99.00 I felt that that it was lacking.
The positive include a large cargo area and you can carry a small laptop and a large one. ie 11" Backbook air and a 17" gaming machine.
