Many things come to mind when golfers think of The Masters. Some might get a stirring in the heart as they remember the excitement of the season. The Masters is one of the biggest golf moments of the year, and the tournament itself is one of the four major championships in professional golf. The Masters is characterized by class, tradition and the green sports jacket the winner has the privilege of putting on.
Here at OGIO, we are excited to stand behind one of our sponsored athletes Kevin Streelman. He tied for 12th in last year’s Masters and has a shot at the green jacket again this year.
Check out some of our favorite things about one of our favorite Masters competitor this year.
Born in Wheaton, Illinois, Streelman dabbled in many different sports. Some of his favorites included tennis, baseball and basketball, but golf took the crown his freshman year of high school.
Fueling the Fire
After standing out in his high school years, Streelman attended Duke University and eventually became the golf team captain his senior year.
The six years following college graduation included miles and miles on the road traveling to numerous golf tournaments with the hope of making it big. After intense dedication, 2007 was a year to celebrate.
After receiving his PGA card, Streelman had quite a year. He achieved four top ten finishes in 2007 and even won the Kodak Challenge in 2009. Things were looking up even more when Streelman won his first PGA tournament, the Tampa Bay Championship in 2013. By then Streelman had found a groove and 2014 was no exception. He walked away with a win at the Travelers Championship and even set the record for most consecutive birdies made to win a tournament.
Today, Streelman calls Scottsdale, Arizona home and enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
This year, you’ll find Streelman taking on Augusta once again. The first round starts on April 7th and we’re excited to see him hit the greens again.
If you’re looking to polish up your game and need the gear to match, check out our OGIO golf equipment and clothing. Not only do we have bags that keep you organized and focused, but our clothing will keep you cool, calm and collected. Let Kevin Streelman inspire your own passion for the links this season.
